Folds Housing officer Joseph Galbraith and Forthriver Fold\'s Scheme Co-ordinator Isobel Hamilton organised and took part in a promotion morning in Ballygomartins Tesco\'s store to promote the benefits of sheltered housing to residents of the Greater Shankill District. Joe and Isobel were keen to let the local community know that there are immediate vacancies in the sheltered housing scheme located in the Greater Shankill District, both staff members were proactive in generating awareness of the benefits of sheltered housing and in particular the benefits of living at Forthriver Fold located in Forthriver Way, Belfast. The staff were involved in providing information leaflets to local residents of the Glencairn Estate and hosting an information stand at Tesco\'s to inform all shoppers and in particular local residents, of the benefits of living in Folds Sheltered accommodation. Both staff members handed out information leaflets and spoke to local residents at the Tesco\'s store 21st of April 2010.
Speaking at the event Joseph said \"The event was designed to inform locals residents of the benefits of sheltered housing, and to reinforce what sheltered housing is. Many local residents that we spoke to on the day, thought that Fold\'s sheltered housing was something that resembled residential care homes. This was a fantastic opportunity to correct this misconception. Although sheltered housing provides low level support to its residents, this support does not take away from our residents independence. We explained to one female shopper, that she could come and go as she pleased through her own front door and have friends and family visit anytime she wanted. The scheme would benefit her by providing her with more security and peace of mind in the form of an experience scheme coordinator who lives and works onsite and in addition the support of a telephone care line\". Isobel Hamilton, Forthriver Fold\'s scheme co-ordinator added, \"A number of our tenants at Forthriver Fold have renewed life from coming to live in their Fold Apartments. They are part of a community and have the option to meet weekly to enjoy various events such as coffee mornings, lunch clubs and other social events such as organised day excursions around Northern Ireland\".
Both Joseph and Mrs Isobel will be continuing to promote the benefits of living in Forthriver Fold by hosting an information morning on the 30th of April 2010 at Forthriver Fold, Forthriver Way, Belfast. The information Morning will consist of a small presentation, tour of the property and light refreshments will be provided. If you would like more information on this or any of our other sheltered housing properties, please do not hesitate to contact Fold on 028 90428314 or contact Joseph via email on Joseph.Galbraith@Foldgroup.co.uk.
