Fold Housing Association was delighted to welcome Basque Minister Jon Darpon Sierra when he visited the Fold TeleCare Centre today. Fold TeleCare provides security, care and support to nearly 27,000 customers across Ireland.
Snr Jon Darpon Sierra had a particular interest in the telemonitoring service provided to all the Health and Social Care Trustswhich is operated through a consortium namely TF3, comprising Fold, Tunstall and S3. TF3 provides vital signs monitoring for persons with chronic illnesses, such as COPD, CHF and diabetes, enabling them to live independently and in some cases, prevent an unncesarry admission to hospital. .During his visit, Snr Jon Darpon Sierra listened to a patients experience of the service, tand talked to Fold;s nursing team who provide the daily triage service
The managed service provided by theTF3 Consortium is believed to be theÂ the first large scale tele-monitoring service of its kind in Europe and is a key element in Folds overall Telecare service offering.Fold Telecare employs 60 staff in call monitoring, equipment installation and support. They provide a range of services from basic pendant monitoring to bespoke packages of sensors and alerts for those living in their homes with the earlier stages of dementia.

Like Northern Ireland, the Basque Region of Spain is at the forefront of employing assistive technology to assist people to live independently and longer in their own homes, despite the onset of chronic diseases.
