Ron Duncan (58), a tenant at Fold Housing Association's Brownhill Fold, Irvinestown, has raised £780 for the Tenants Fund by walking 22 miles in a record 5 hours.
Maureen Johnston, Scheme Coordinator at Brownhill Fold said, "Ron has been a tenant of Brownhill Fold since October 2013. He is always very helpful around the scheme and took himself on a challenge to help raise money for the Tenants Fund. We use the Fund to pay for day trips and organise activities within the scheme. We like to have a full programme to cover lots of interests so the tenants can dip in and out of activities and join us for outings when it suits.
She added, Ron set up the fundraising challenge by himself so full credit goes to him for raising a tremendous £780 Brownhill Fold. He took off from Brownhill Fold on the 21 May 2015 and walked out by the Connagrade Road, he continued round the Irvinestown Road for 22 miles and then back round to Brownhill Fold - it took him 5 hours. We are all immensely proud of him!"
Ron said, I would especially like to thank the local people of Irvinestown who turned out to show their support and for their very kind generosity throughout the walk. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I am delighted to have been able to do this for a great cause.
Fold Housing Association would like to thank the local community for supporting Ron and all the tenants at our Brownhill Fold scheme. The scheme will be hosting a party to celebrate Ron's achievement on Thursday 30 July.
