Fold Housing Association has scooped the Championship title in the inaugural Housing Association Football League.
The league, organised by Helm Housing and the Irish Football Association, comprised eight five-a-side teams from Housing Associations across Northern Ireland. They played over 10 weeks with the Fold team scooping the title in a nail-biting final with Connswater Homes.
Team Manager, Andrew Quinlan, Housing Officer with Fold, said, “It was a great tournament which gave us all the chance to get a bit of exercise and bring the sector together. Most of us know one another through work so this was the perfect opportunity to get together socially. The competition was fierce but it was all in good spirits.
He added, “The final game, against Connswater Homes finished 16-all and went to a penalty shoot-out. We are thrilled that Ilias Lambrou, Fearghal Burke and Robert Managh from the Fold team scored all three penalties to claim the title and win the McPeake Cup.”
The full squad were: Andrew Quinlan, Andrew Brent, Nathan Curry, Fearghal Burke, David Hamilton, Robert Managh, Ilias Lambrou, Eoin Armstrong, Dermot Nevin and Ben Conway.
