New interim Chief Executive appointed

Helm Housing Association has announced the appointment of Dr John McPeake as interim Chief Executive. The announcement, made following approval by Helm's board, will see Dr McPeake take up the appointment on 1st January. Prior to that he will work during a handover period with current Chief Executive Michael McDonnell.

 

Dr McPeake is Honorary Professor of Planning at Queen's University Belfast and a former Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. He is currently a board member of Wales & West Housing and the Northern Ireland Federation of Housing Associations and a non-executive board member of the European Federation of Public, Cooperative & Social Housing.

 

Speaking following the announcement, Liz Cuddy, Chair of Helm Housing said:

 

"I am delighted to announce the appointment of Dr John McPeake as interim Chief Executive at Helm Housing. Johnâ??s breadth and depth of experience will help build on the work of our departing Chief Executive Michael McDonnell and the current senior management team. At a time of flux in public finances, Johnâ??s strategic and operational expertise will provide invaluable."

 

"I would also like to pay tribute to Michael McDonnell who will leave Helm Housing shortly for his new role. Michaelâ??s work in recent years has been pivotal in ensuring Helm Housing was able to return to doing what it does best - building safe and sustainable neighbourhoods and communities for people across Northern Ireland."

 

Dr John McPeake said:
