Registered Housing Association becomes official sponsor for Homeless Soccer 5 Nations Cup
The registered Housing Association in Northern Ireland, Helm Housing, has announced its support of the Homeless Soccer 5 Nations Cup, which will be held at Queenâ??s University playing fields from 8th - 9th September 2016.
The Homeless Soccer 5 Nations Cup has been organised by Street Soccer NI, a registered charity which was founded in East Belfast in 2010, as a way to encourage disadvantaged groups of society, such as the homeless and long term unemployed, to re-engage with the East Belfast Mission.
Street Soccer works with 40-60 young men per week, and will select a squad of eight to take part in the Home Nationsâ?? games to play against Scotland, England Wales and Republic of Ireland teams.
Helm Housing sponsor Homeless Soccer 5 Nations CupLiz Cuddy, Chair of Helm Housing said â??Helm Housing are delighted to be partnering with Street Soccer NI and to be supporting them with the tremendous work they do across Northern Ireland, the Home Nations Tournament being an exciting part of this. We currently provide accommodation for single people, families and older people, working with not only a diverse tenant base but with a number of vulnerable client groups. By supporting the Homeless Soccer Initiative we are further extending our reach in helping young people improve their lives through sport, coaching and education programmes and we are very excited about this new partnership.â??
Justin McMinn, Co-Founder of Street Soccer NI said â??Without support from sponsors like Helm Housing the games wouldnâ??t be possible. It is the first year the Homeless World Cup has been held on UK soil, and given the success of Northern Ireland in the Euroâ??s, there is no better time to organise a Home Nations Tournament. With celebrity special guests expected and no ticket necessary this is sure to be a fantastic family friendly event, and a chance for Northern Ireland to show their sporting excellence once again.â??
