Jill spent her entire career working in social housing, employed by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. Most of her time working was spent at a local level in a number of district offices but she also worked in Finance and spent two periods on project work including a secondment to a working group which examined how the organisation could modernise its housing services.
Jill was the District Manager in Portadown and then in Lisburn and retired in 2011. During her time as district manager she was very involved in supporting communities and in regeneration work. She was a Director of the Laganview Enterprise Centre in Lisburn, which is a a social economy business, and she assisted several communities with development work. She also represented the Housing Executive on a number of local partnerships.
In 2001 Jill was awarded an MBE for services to Housing in Northern Ireland.
Following the merger of Fold and Helm Housing Associations Jill became a member of the Radius Housing Board and since 2017 has served as Chair of the Communities and Assets committee and is also a member of the Care and Support Committee.
