Bloomin lovely at Pinetree Manor

02 Jul 2015

Pinetree Manor is a sheltered housing scheme owned by Helm in Twinbrook.  However its not just the tenants who are reaping the benefits of the social events on offer here as, for the past three years, residents from both Pinetree and the local community have been coming together for a weekly flower arranging class.

With the dedication and enthusiasm of the Scheme Coordinator, Rosemary Diver, the class has proved to be very popular with many coming back week after week not just for the flowers but the craic.

Betty Hartley local resident says I have met Rosemary and the gang through my interest in flower arranging.  We have great craic and the atmosphere is so welcoming, when you cross the door there is a feeling of homeliness so much in fact that I have considered moving into sheltered accommodation in a few years time.  I am a homeowner but would wish to be in a friendly, safe and homely environment of Pinetree which Rosemary has created for the tenants and others from the surrounding communities.

Grainne Murray added I have been coming to Pinetree for the past ten years.  I have been at many of the social events, dancing, therapy sessions, lunch club and other special events.  I have always felt at home with the tenants and friends of Pinetree.  I have mobility issues and have suffered low self-esteem for years but since meeting Rosemary and the tenants I have had the courage and confidence to come out of my shell.  I have attended the flower sessions over the last few years and indeed have met up with an old friend.  I just want to say a big thanks to Rosemary and the tenants for bringing a little sunshine into my life! It is a great place to live.

Schemes such as Pinetree are not just about the tenants, but about being part of the local community and ensuring that strong friendships and partnerships are forged.  Kieran Walsh, Director of Housing Management at Helm Housing said The testimonials from those tenants and local residents who have attended events at Pinetree are evidence not only of the hard work and efforts of Rosemary in her role as Scheme Coordinator, but of the important links Helm and its schemes has with the communities within which they reside. We are proud that Pinetrees flower arranging class is proving so popular and look forward to many sprays of beautiful flowers!
