RADIUS HOUSING SCHOOLS PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMME

Radius Housing Association are proud to announce their second year of the Schools Partnership Programme, which forms part of their wider engagement with schools to provide information, guidance and upskilling in relation to careers advice and potentially developing a career in housing.

Last year we collaborated with schools in the wider Belfast area to help support the delivery of their Careers curriculum.  We are happy to announce that we have added new partnerships for the 2025-2026 academic year.

We will be partnering with the following schools:

·       Priory College, Holywood

·       Victoria College, Belfast

·       Laurelhill Community College, Lisburn

·       St.  Columbanus’, Bangor

·       Newry High School

To kickstart this years’ programme, starter packs were distributed to year 8 students in the above colleges, to help equip pupils with the necessary resources to kickstart their secondary level studies.  Through the partnership programme, we aim to bring an industry perspective to schools to enhance student engagement and bring the world of work to life, whilst developing skills, confidence and encouraging young people to take control of their futures.

We will work with schools throughout the year to deliver sessions on CV building, personal branding, Interview skills, day in the life presentations from a variety of professions, as well as building awareness of who we are, what we do, and some of the roles/careers available within the organisation.

Heather Kennedy, Learning, Development and Engagement Manager had this to say:

“School and business partnerships are important as they bridge the gap between education and the real world, creating mutual benefits for students, schools, and businesses.  They help to strengthen communities and make education more relevant by connecting classroom learning to real-world applications.

They provide exposure to different industries helps students understand career options and what skills are needed.  Partnerships strengthen ties between schools and the local economy.  When organisations invest in education, they’re helping to develop a skilled local workforce of the future, which supports long-term economic growth.”

By working in partnership, we will ensure that programme content is aligned to individual school priorities, ethos and workloads, and threaded seamlessly into their wider curriculum objectives and moreover brings practical skills to the young people within our communities.

We welcome staff who would like to get involved in supporting the delivery of these sessions. If you’re interested, please contact hr.training@radiushousing.org for more information.
