Fusion with Helm Housing enhances service & jobs growth

20 Jan 2015

Fusion Heating, a heating installation and maintenance company based in East Belfast, has been awarded a contract with one of Northern Irelands largest social housing providers, Helm Housing Association. The deal will see a partnership-based gas boiler maintenance service provided by Fusion for Helm Housing Associations 5,600 properties and 15,000 tenants across Northern Ireland. This new contract will also see the creation of eight jobs at Fusion Heating.

The new contract will see an enhanced service for tenants as a result of the implementation of modern service delivery practices and an increase in staff numbers. The eight new Fusion Heating jobs include two multi-skilled builders, one electrician, three plumbing apprentices and two administrators. In addition, as a sign of both firms commitment to training and development of young people, one of the apprentice roles is being supported by Helm Housing Association. This apprentice will spend their four year training programme working solely with their properties.

Michael McDonnell, Chief Executive Officer at Helm Housing Association said, Helm Housing Association is dedicated to building safe and sustainable neighbourhoods and making sure people feel comfortable in their homes. Ensuring that gas boiler maintenance is completed quickly and effectively is an important part of this work and we are delighted to be renewing our contract with Fusion Heating which will deliver an enhanced service to tenants.

Michael McDonnell, CEO at Helm Housing Association and Bill Cherry, Managing Director, Fusion Heating, marking the award of a major gas boiler maintenance contract for the Housing Association, with new apprentice Damian Murphy, who will work solely on the Helm Housing contract.

We are especially pleased that one of Fusions apprentices will work exclusively with us over the next four years. This is another sign of increasing levels of partnership working in the social housing sector, he added.

Bill Cherry, Managing Director of Fusion Heating said, We have been in the Northern Ireland gas market place since 2006 and in that time we have grown and diversified our business. We are delighted to be continuing our association with Helm Housing. We are proud to be a local employer and these additional jobs leave us well placed for continued growth in this sector.

Fusion Heating has provided gas boiler services for Helm Housing properties for the last seven years and will continue their growth through this ongoing contract.
