Radius Housing completes construction of 52 new homes in Dungannon & Coalisland

Press Release - 29th October 2020

Construction of 52 new homes in the South Tyrone area have just been completed by Radius Housing. The new houses and apartments located in Dungannon and Coalisland, represent a £6m investment by Radius, which addresses rural housing need in the Mid Ulster area while also making a significant contribution to the local construction sector.

The Coalisland properties, which were completed by J&A Construction over two phases this summer, consist of 28 houses at Torrent Valley and 12 Apartments at Torrent Close. In Dungannon the final six properties of the 12 two and three bedroom Cloneen scheme were completed and handed over to Radius last week. These 52 new homes form part of Radius Housing’s ambitious annual development programme  which seeks to construct 400 new homes each year.

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Cllr Cathal Mallaghan, visiting the final handover of the Cloneen, Dungannon development last week said: said: “Affordable and social housing provision is a key strategic issue identified within the Mid Ulster Community Plan. Our area has one of the highest levels of social housing need, and yet, has one of the lowest levels of available NIHE and social housing properties across all Council districts here.

“This much needed new development of 52 homes is therefore timely, and all the more so given the impact of COVID-19 on the affordability of, and demand for social housing in our area. I wish the new occupants many years of contentment in their new homes.”

Anita Conway, Radius Housing’s Development Director, said “At Radius we aim to deliver the best quality homes right across Northern Ireland. We recognise the importance of addressing housing need in rural communities, which is why we are delighted that 52 new homes have been completed in Coalisland and Dungannon this year. The investment Radius makes in these new homes supports jobs and has helps to drive the local economy.

“The successful completion of these homes, despite the impact of the Covid-crisis, is testament to the dedication and hard work of the Radius development team, working in partnership with J&A Construction and LJD Developments.”

Radius Housing is a leading developer of social and affordable housing in Northern Ireland and also manages more than 13,000 social homes. Earlier this year they secured an investment of £105million from US and UK investors, which is supporting the construction of hundreds of new homes.
