Hemsworth Court wins at NI Housing Council Awards

Helm Housings Hemsworth Court Scheme in Belfast has received a top prize at annual awards organised by the Northern Ireland Housing Council.

The Jim Speers Special Award is first and foremost in recognition of the provision of social and special needs housing which has been developed with the needs of the end-users to the forefront.

The Housing Council Awards Ceremony took place on Thursday, 12t February 2015 in the Slieve Donard Hotel, Newcastle.

Hemsworth Court in Belfast caters for people with Dementia, which is designed to deliver 24 hour medical care services to its residents whilst enabling them to be as active and independent as possible.The Scheme consists of 35 flats with associated communal facilities and guest rooms. The scheme was completed in June 2013.

The Scheme is managed jointly by Helm Housing and the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.

The Awards Committee were impressed with the welcoming appearance and attention to detail and pride in finishing the job to a prescribed standard. However, above and beyond achieving and exceeding the required criteria, the difference and improvement in the quality of life and living environment for residents is the key measure of its success
