John Helps Everyone See Funny Side with Joke Book Fundraiser for Macmillan

16 Nov 2015

Fold Housing Association have recognised the fundraising efforts of Mr John Luke, a tenant of Deerfin Fold, Ballymena, who has raised a staggering £1534.00 for Macmillan Cancer Support through sales of a joke book which he wrote and published with the help of Fold.

Philip Evans and Muriel Ramsey, Scheme Coordinators, at Deerfin Fold said, “We are thrilled that Johns efforts have raised so much for Macmillan.  John is a witty man, always telling jokes with a twinkle in his eye, so it is fitting that the jokes he wrote, gathered and pulled together in the book should do so well.  The book was sold in over 100 Fold Schemes across Northern Ireland to tenants, friends and family.
They added, John is very active in Deerfin Fold and the wider community, he is always ready to get involved or take it upon himself to start something!  He sings with the Ballymena Male Voice choir and we had the pleasure of seeing him perform with them at Deerfin just this week.We are delighted that he will be recognised by presentation of a special Certificate of Appreciation for his tremendous efforts by Fold Board Members who are visiting Deerfin Fold.
John McLean, Chief Executive, Fold said, ''We are so proud of John and what he has achieved for Macmillan Cancer Support.  He is proof that everyone can be a positive force for change. The money he has raised will make a positive difference to those living or supporting people with cancer. Our tenants never fail to surprise us with their generosity. John''s efforts have greatly contributed to the £70,000 Fold raised for Macmillan during our two year partnership and we are on track for matching this total for our new corporate charity partner Alzheimer''s Society during 2015 - 2016.'
