Lir Fold Hosts Double Anniversary Celebration

07 Nov 2016

Fold Housing Association’s Lir Fold celebrated two anniversaries recently with a party for tenants, friends and family. The Lord Mayor of Armagh, Garath Keating, attended Lir Fold to meet the residents and join in the celebrations for the scheme’s 20th anniversary and Fold’s 40th anniversary.

Scheme Coordinator Keri Cornett said that “Lir Fold’s 20th year marks a special occasion for tenants, family and friends especially as we celebrate Fold’s 40th.  We currently have 19 tenants with only 6 available occupancies and so the scheme has a community feel, it’s great when we all get together.”

She added, “We were delighted to have Mayor Keating attend this special event and to speak on the 20 years of Lir Fold in Keady. The tenants were thrilled to meet Mayor Keating and speak with him about Lir and fundraising for our corporate charity Alzheimer’s Society. “

Eileen Paterson, Fold’s Director of Housing, said, “This celebration is a credit to the incredible work Lir Fold’s staff do each day as well as the tremendous fundraising efforts of the tenants and their family and friends. It was also fantastic to have Pat Murray, Lir’s oldest tenant help cut the anniversary cake alongside Lord Mayor Garath Keating. Pat moved in to the scheme in 1997 when it opened and at the age of 87 still loves living in Lir Fold”

Keri and Lir Fold tenants would like to say a special thanks Mayor Keating for attending  as well as everyone who helped raise £117 for Alzheimer’s Society and who participated in making the double anniversary celebration a success.
