Radius Housing takes on World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development 2019

Marking World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development 2019, we at Radius Housing hosted our fourth annual Diversity Day on Tuesday 21st May.  The event was designed to support and encourage staff to engage with a range of service providers to develop a greater understanding of cultural diversity.

We welcomed representatives from the Chinese Welfare Association, Women’s Aid, AWARE NI, the Housing Association Integration Project, Centre of Health and Wellbeing, Nasz Express Polish Magazine, Autism NI, the Royal National Institute of Blind People and Action on Hearing Loss. Staff received useful information and resources as well as the opportunity to participate in a number of cultural experiences including Calligraphy (Chinese writing), Indian Head Massage and the sampling of Chinese and Polish cuisine.

Corporate Assurance Manager, Grainne King, said “Equality, diversity and inclusion is at the centre of everything we do at Radius Housing. Our annual Diversity Day affords Radius Housing staff the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the values of cultural diversity and the development of integrating culture.”

She added, “Our annual Diversity Day encourages staff to learn and experience the different services we as a housing provider can encourage our diverse tenant base to avail of. The event created a buzz with staff getting involved in conversations with exhibitors, understanding different cultures and issues that are part ofsome peoples’ every-day life.”
