Celebrating Social Enterprise Day 16th November 2023
Social Enterprise Day is part of an international series of events, used to raise awareness of social enterprises and how they contribute to local communities in Northern Ireland.
Radius Housing was recently recognised at the Social Enterprise NI awards, receiving the award for Social Enterprise of the Year 2023, in recognition of "exceptional social impact and ongoing work with local schools and communities".
As a leading housing association and developer, Radius Housing constructs more than 300 new social and affordable homes each year. Radius manages more than 13,500 social homes, and provides care and support for many more across Northern Ireland.
This year, Radius Housing delivered a major community and housing partnership project in Derry. The new development, Creevagh Heights, is a Radius Housing initiative, which brought together the Ulster GAA, Derry City & Strabane District Council, and Sean Dolans GAC, to provide brand new homes and a new sports facility, which will help revitalise the Creggan area of the city.
Radius Housing recently co-ordinated a community-led collaboratve art project in the Sailortown area of Belfast for Stella Maris.
Stella Maris provides a home for up to 23 long-term homeless street drinkers. Radius housing are the landlord for Stella Marris, DePaul Ireland are the partner organisation who run the service.
Also this year, Radius hosted the European Federation of Living's Autumn Conference. The three day conference began with a thought leadership event focused on joint learnings amid the current challenges and opportunities facing tenants and social landlords. Attended by housing experts from across Europe, the conference covered sustainability, regeneration, community engagement and technology.
