With a Spring in his step Ron raises £900 for Alzheimer's

08 Jul 2016

Ron Duncan (60), a tenant at Fold Housing Association’s Brownhill Fold has topped his fundraising efforts , this time for Alzheimer’s Society, by raising a whopping £900 by completing a second walk from Irvinestown to Dromore.

Maureen Johnston, Scheme Coordinator at Brownhill Fold said, “Ron has been a tenant of Brownhill Fold since October 2013. Last year he raised funds for the Scheme and this year his walk was for Fold Corporate charity partner Alzheimer’s Society.   We also hosted a music event at the Scheme which added £160 to the total of £900.  The musicians gave their time and talents for free which we greatly appreciate.

She added, “Ron took off from Brownhill Fold on the 23 April 2016 and walked  to Dromore and Back - it took him 5 hours.   We are all immensely proud of him and are thilled to be able to make the donation to such a worthwhile cause.”

Ron said, “I would especially like to thank the local people of Irvinestown who donated to the fundraising and to everyone who supported the music event.   I thoroughly enjoyed the walk and knowing that it had such purpose, put an extra spring in each step.”

Richard Gilliland, Alzheimer’s Society NI said, “The monies raised by Fold Housing Association’s  Ron Duncan and Brownhill Fold will go a long way in helping to fund vital services in Fermanagh and surrounding areas. It will allow us to support people living with dementia and help with providing care for today and finding a cure for tomorrow

Fold Housing Association would like to thank the local community for supporting Ron and all the tenants at our Brownhill Fold scheme.
