Repair Responsibility

Carrying out minor repairs is part of the day-to-day upkeep of your home and your responsibility as a tenant.

We encourage our tenants to take responsibility for carrying out minor maintenance, thus preventing small problems becoming big ones.

Below is a list of common household repairs that are the responsibility of our tenants*.

• Bath tap washers, plug & chain
• Sink tap washers, plug & chain
• Sink blockages
• Shower curtains and rails
• Replacing toilet seats
• Internal decorations
• Fixture & Fittings, eg. coat hooks, curtains and curtain rails
• Fuses
• Bleeding radiators
• Minor plaster repairs on walls and ceilings
• Sweeping chimneys
• Washing lines
• Garden maintenance

For a full list of repairs and who is responsible, please refer to your Tenant Handbook.

Charges may be incurred if a tenant logs a works order which is deemed to be the tenant's own responsibility, or repairs are required because of damage, neglect or abuse of property.

If you are unsure, or concerned about completing repairs that are your responsibility, please contact us on 0330 123 0888 or alternatively speak to your Scheme Co-Ordinator.

*If you are part of Independent Living for Over 55s, please refer to the tenant handbook or speak to your Scheme Co-ordinator.
