FOLD Housing Association are pleased to invite Margaret Ritchie, MLA, Minister for Department for Social Development to officiate at the ‘sod cutting’ ceremony at FOLD’S latest social housing development at Torrens Phase 3A, North Belfast.
Sod Cutting at Torrens Phase 3This phase will bring another 112 homes, to this area, whilst regenerating a 2.37 hector site which previously occupied two peace walls. By working closely with the local community, Northern Ireland Housing Executive and Northern Ireland Office; Fold has been able to develop this waste land whilst improving living conditions and encouraging community regeneration.
The scheme aims to build on the regeneration works already undertaken in the area by FOLD, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and North Belfast Strategy Group.
Torrens 3A has been designed to provide a range of family housing solutions, including five homes specifically designed for families with complex needs. Torrens meets Lifetime Homes, Secure by Design and Eco Homes Excellent Standards, whilst incorporating various energy saving designs from solar panel water heating and heat recovery ventilation systems.
The scheme will be completed in Spring 2011 by FOLD’s contractor Braidwater Limited and was designed by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive Design Services.
Mr William Cameron, Chairman of Fold commented, “As waiting lists continue to grow for social housing, FOLD continues to build homes that meet the local communities housing needs, even at a time when budgets are being cut.”
